One of the earliest Renaissance buildings in Scandinavia

Rosenvingehuset is one of the earliest Renaissance buildings in Scandinavia and a representative of bourgeois urban architecture that is unique in several respects in northern Europe. Built-in 1534 and the builder Anna Pedersdatter was the widow of Christian II's scribe Mogens Jensen Rosenvinge, hence the house's name. The building is a semi-detached house with two mirrored apartments on two floors.

Initially, they had imagined a house twice as long and prepared for two more similar apartments. This work was never carried out, probably due to declining economic conditions during the latter part of the 1530s. The building style is partly characterized by the Dutch Renaissance but in a very tight and simple design. The previous location of the upstairs window can be read in the facade.

Both apartments have their own entrance from the street and towards the gables are the paired window openings to the living room. The two large masonry openings in the middle of the façade have been interpreted as openings for bay windows or market stalls. Otherwise, the facade is remarkably simple with few decorative elements; the reformation, which was carried out in Malmö in 1529, has already begun to make its mark in architecture.

The only more advanced decorative element is the combined text and picture board above the west door with a "memento mori" theme.

On the inscription plaque, the following quote is inscribed:

"Ack människa, betänk din lott, Hur Gud av jord dig skapat blott, Hur döden smyger, tjuven lik, Och rycker bort både arm och rik"
